Two of my passions in life are photography and exploring the Arkansas outdoors. Although I am a native Arkansan, I came to appreciate the native beauty of my home later in life. Through my photography I have sought to document my own discovery and appreciation of my home state.

While I have always enjoyed working with photography and images as part of my professional career teaching Photoshop and web design at a number of community colleges throughout Arkansas, it was not until recuperating from an injury that I was introduced to the photography and nature books of Tim Ernst. I caught his enthusiasm for tramping the back woods of Arkansas and photographing their beauty – the flowers, bluffs, waterfalls, and foliage.

kayakOver the past three years, it has been my good fortune to have taken many classes with Tim. I have benefited from his professional expertise and his generous spirit. Under his tutelage, I have frozen my fingers for the perfect shot of spring wildflowers, waited for the light to emerge to capture a compelling waterfall, and enjoyed the collegiality of other students as Tim taught us to develop our shots. During the summer of 2009, I studied at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana. I hope to be a life-long learner and continue my studies in photography.

My formal education is in law, business, and computer information systems and I am currently employed by Northwest Arkansas Community College. I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed creating them.
